VisionWorks2D Analyse-Software

Select from two different VisionWorks 2D packages: VisionWorks 2D Lite which is limited to six same-stain gel image comparison and VisionWorks 2D Pro which has no gel image limit.

VisionWorks 2D Software enables:

  • Simplicity. A simplified workflow guides the user through each analysis step allowing effortless identification of significantly changing proteins.
  • Objectivity. The guided workflow promotes a consistent analysis approach allowing new or inexperienced users to generate completely objective and reproducible results from their 2D gels.
  • Speed. Analysis times of less than 10 minutes per image* are typical due to the high streamlined and optimized workflow.

* Timings based on a single stain experiment with 2 groups, 5 replicates per group and an image size of 9MB.

Unique VisionWorks 2D Approach

VisionWorks 2D is a unique and validated approach delivering a major advance for the analysis of single or multiple dyes. At the foundation of the VisionWorks 2D approach is highly accurate technology which makes pixel perfect alignment of images achievable. This produces 100% matching of spots across all images and no missing values in the analyzed data. The results are statistically robust so users have absolute confidence in the data generated.

Performing spot detection on perfectly aligned images also means that spot editing is not required on most experiments, so operator bias can be kept to an absolute minimum. The result is an incredibly rapid analysis to quickly identify the significant proteins with negligible effort.

Key Steps in the Workflow

Image Quality Control

  • Automatic image quality control assessment and feedback at the start of workflow highlights many potential issues with the image quality before proceeding to the next step

Image Alignment

  • Advanced image alignment guides users through the process of adding vector landmarks in a logical manner across the gel image
  • Automatic alignment process uses the landmarks set by users to fully align all experimental images

Image Alignment Review

  • Alignment grid draws attention to problematic areas on the gel image which are most distorted, so users can focus on those areas during the systematic alignment review
  • Alignment can be manually adjusted if required

Prefiltering and SameSpots Analysis

  • Unwanted artifacts can be filtered out of the VisionWorks 2D Analysis
  • Fully automatic VisionWorks 2D Analysis produces data with 100% matching and no missing values which allows robust statistical analysis

View Results and Identify Interesting Spots

  • Significant spots are ranked for review by fold change and ANOVA (p-value)
  • Each spot can be assessed using the 2D/3D montage view and expression profiles
  • Any spot editing is greatly simplified as a single edit on one image and is automatically applied to all images across the entire experiment
  • Interesting spots are highlighted on the image view as a guide for manual picking

Report Generation

  • A simple, printable report provides an overview of the spots which warrant further investigation and are selected for picking

Software Flexibility

The VisionWorks 2D software also allows the user to add images to an existing analyzed experiment. This improves the scope of proteomics studies as users are not confined to the original experiment design.
