An eccentrically mounted rotor fitted with two radially sliding vanes sweeps the stator volume twide per revolution. The vacuum pump incorporates a fully adjustable gas ballast. The purpose of the gas ballast is to reduce vapours condensing during the compression stage. The gas ballast improves water vapour handling and reduces oil contamination.
